Come hear renowned scientist and public intellectual Richard Dawkins discuss his new book The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution. This free, open-to-the-public appearance is not being hosted by the Center for Inquiry, and due to high demand, we advise you to to arrive as early as possible. The New York University student freethought group will be making a field trip to this talk, and we will all shoot to go out for dinner and drinks after the event (without Dawkins, unfortunately). Just look for familiar CFI faces at the event (or afterwards just outside B&N) and tag along!

Richard Dawkins is a world-renowned evolutionary biologist and author. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society and, until recently, held the Charles Simonyi Chair of Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. His first book, The Selfish Gene, was an instant international bestseller, and has become an established classic work of modern evolutionary biology. He is also the author of The Blind Watchmaker, River Out of Eden, Climbing Mount Improbable, Unweaving the Rainbow, A Devil's Chaplain, and The Ancestor's Tale. In The Greatest Show on Earth, a brilliant follow-up to his blockbuster The God Delusion, Dawkins lays out the evidence for evolution.

I saw Dawkins Sunday evening at 92Y. There was quite a big crowd. I arrived an hour in advance and there were already people on the non-ticket holders' line. Luckily they found seats for us. Dawkins was charming and brilliant. If Sunday evening is any indication, you'll definitely want to arrive early. Dawkins is worth the wait!

Excellent reading, though Dawkins failed to see me wave my giant pink spotted rubber duck. I wanted to ask how he felt about Francis Collins becoming head of the NIH; they once debated in Time magazine: http://www.time.c...
    •  Dawkins' lecture was fantastic, the audience's questions were fantastic, and Dawkins' answers were fantastic. It could scarcely have been improved.

Awesome talk by Dawkins. I now want to find other places he is speaking and bring more people. Especially since I just found out that my cousin (in England) is a creationist (he comment to a picture of him I posted). These are strange times! Sorry I couldn't do dinner after, I lost my friend who came with me. Next time though!
    •  Barnes and Noble made a quick buck by requiring people who wanted to listen to the book presentation to buy one of Dawkins' books, otherwise they won't get to see his speach, only listen to it from around a corner (barely audible).
    •  A brilliant, eloquent man.
